What We Love About Tomball
The city of Tomball began as European settlers arrived in the mid-1800s. These immigrants were seeking a better life, a desire for freedom, prosperity in the form of a community, and a new place to call home. Many of these newcomers were from Germany, and took comfort in the lush forests surrounding Tomball that resembled the Black Forest back home. Additionally, the land offered opportunity in the form of lumber, logging, and livestock. The land was composed of rich soil ideal for farming. In the early 1900s, Tomball (called Peck at the time) established a railroad stop. While a simple and minor change, this access completely transformed then-Peck into a vibrant rail center. The community decided as a whole to gather at a ceremony on December 2, 1907, at which the town of Peck was renamed Tomball. Its name was derived from the man responsible for routing the railroad through the small town, named Thomas Ball. Known as the “Father of the Port of Houston,” Thomas Ball changed ‘Peck’ from a sleepy farm town into Tomball, a city with a promising future and growing community.
In 1933, the lives of Tomball’s residents changed forever when the Humble Oil Company (now Exxon) struck oil. Tomball was nicknamed “Oiltown USA” as more than twenty energy companies joined the Humble Oil Company in sourcing fuel from the surrounding area. Today, Tomball is the best of both worlds, offering a sleepy community near a big city, built on small town history but embracing economic diversity. Today, Tomball has festivals, live music, sports, unique shopping, and charming mom-and-pop restaurants that make absolutely incredible food. Of course, out of all the things Davis Law Group loves about Tomball, our favorite is still the people. We’re proud to serve this close-knit community, standing by its residents during some of life’s greatest challenges.
